Topic: Lignocellulosic Materials for Energy, Electronics, and Environmental Applications
Guest Editor
Special Topic Introduction
Lignocellulosic biomass, primarily composed of cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin, offers a sustainable and versatile platform for developing next-generation soft materials. With advances in extraction, functionalization, and assembly techniques, lignocellulosic components have been transformed into flexible films, hydrogels, aerogels, nanofibers, and composites with promising properties for applications in energy storage, flexible electronics, soft sensors, and environmental remediation.
This Special Issue aims to gather cutting-edge research on the design, synthesis, and application of lignocellulosic materials in soft matter and systems. We welcome contributions focusing on structure-property relationships, soft and hybrid structures, bioinspired and multifunctional composites, and device-level integration. Special emphasis will be placed on the development of lignocellulose-based materials for soft electronics (e.g., flexible supercapacitors, sensors, and wearable devices), smart soft systems (e.g., self-powered and bio-interfacing devices), and advanced fabrication technologies (e.g., printing, coating, or assembly methods tailored for soft and sustainable materials).
By bridging materials science, bioinspired design, and sustainable engineering, this Special Issue seeks to inspire interdisciplinary innovation and promote lignocellulosic materials as a renewable backbone for emerging soft technologies.
Topics of interest:
1. Lignocellulosic Soft Materials: Extraction, Modification, and Structure-Property Relationships;
2. Lignocellulose-Based Hydrogels, Aerogels, and Flexible Films for Soft Matter Applications;
