Figure 3. K. pneumoniae can use mucus-associated sugars as a fuel source. K. pneumoniae ATCC 35657 (A and E), ATCC 700603 (B amd F), CB1 (C and G), and MCFM22 (D and H) were grown in a M9 minimal medium supplemented with (A-D) 25 mM D-glucose, N-acetyl-neuraminic acid, L-fucose or (E-H) 25 mM D-galactose, GlcNAc, and GalNAc for 18 h. The OD600 was measured by plate reader to monitor growth over time. Data are represented as mean ± standard deviation. Graphs generated with Graphpad Prism.
