Welcome Prof. Yongfa Zhu as Editor-in-Chief of Catalysis, Energy and Environment

OAE's newly launched interdisciplinary, gold open access journal Catalysis, Energy and Environment is delighted to announce the appointment of Prof. Yongfa Zhu as its Editor-in-Chief. Prof. Zhu is a world-renowned scholar in energy photocatalysis, environmental catalysis, and advanced catalytic materials, affiliated with the Department of Chemistry, Tsinghua University, Beijing, China.

About the Journal

Catalysis, Energy and Environment aims to provide a platform for innovative research that integrates catalysis science with sustainable energy development and environmental remediation. Special emphasis is placed on the design and synthesis of advanced catalytic materials, mechanism exploration of catalytic reactions, and translational research linking fundamental catalysis to industrial applications in carbon neutrality and circular economy initiatives. Priority is given to studies offering new insights into electrocatalysis, photocatalysis, and thermal catalysis for clean energy conversion, pollutant abatement, and resource recycling. The journal also welcomes research on emerging catalytic technologies that promote low-carbon transitions and global sustainable development.

About Prof. Yongfa Zhu

Prof. Yongfa Zhu

Prof. Yongfa Zhu is a doctoral supervisor at the Department of Chemistry, Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, and serves as the Deputy Director of the National Center for Electron Spectroscopy, Tsinghua University. He obtained his bachelor's degree from Nanjing University, Nanjing, China, his master's degree from Peking University, Beijing, China, and his Ph.D. from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. He conducted postdoctoral research at Ehime University, Matsuyama, Japan. Since July 1988, Prof. Zhu has been a faculty member at Tsinghua University, focusing on energy photocatalysis, environmental photocatalysis, and photocatalytic applications in health-related areas.

Prof. Zhu has received numerous prestigious awards, including Cross-Century Talents Program of the Ministry of Education, China; the Outstanding Young Scientist Fund of the National Natural Science Foundation of China; one Second-Class National Natural Science Award; two First-Class Natural Science Awards; one Second-Class Natural Science Award of the Ministry of Education; and one Second-Class and one Third-Class Science and Technology Progress Award of the Ministry of Education. He has published 402 papers indexed in the Science Citation Index (SCI), including 36 highly cited papers, which have been cited more than 31,500 times, with an H-index of 140. He was listed as an Elsevier Highly Cited Scholar in Chemistry (2014-2020), an Elsevier Global Highly Cited Scholar in Materials Science and Engineering (2016), and a Clarivate Analytics Highly Cited Scientist in Chemistry (2018-2025).

Prof. Zhu holds several academic leadership roles, including Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Applied Catalysis B, Vice Chairman of the China Photosensitive Society and Director of its Photocatalysis Professional Committee, President of the Beijing Indoor and In-Vehicle Environmental Purification Industry Association, Executive Director of the China Association for Instrumental Analysis, Member of the Environmental Chemistry Professional Committee of the Chinese Chemical Society, Member of the Academic Committee of the State Key Laboratory of Photocatalysis on Energy and Environment, and Deputy Director of the Academic Committee of the Key Laboratory of Resource Chemistry of the Ministry of Education.
