The Rise and Fall of HORIZON: Reassessing the Lp(a) Hypothesis

Prof. Andrea Baragetti obtained his PharmD degree from the University of Milan and his PhD from the University "G. d'Annunzio" of Chieti-Pescara. He joined the Department of Pharmacological and Biomolecular Sciences at the University of Milan in 2024, where he is currently an Associate Professor. His research focuses on the field of Lp(a) and Cardiometabolic Atherosclerosis.

Robert S. Rosenson, MD, FACC, FACP, FAHA, FESC, FNLA is the Dr. Rony Shimony Distinguished Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and System Director of Metabolism and Lipids for the Mount Sinai Health System. An internationally recognized expert in lipid metabolism and cardiovascular prevention, he is a leading authority on dyslipidemia and Lp(a), and has served as Global Principal Investigator of the PLASMA I/II, FRANCIS, and BANTING trials. He is a former Co-Editor-in-Chief of Cardiovascular Drugs and Therapy and Section Editor for JACC and UpToDate, recipient of the Simon Dack Award (eight times) and the Jan J. Kellerman Memorial Award, and an ADA Representative for the 2026 AHA/ACC Cholesterol Guideline. Author of over 500 peer-reviewed papers, he was named a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher in 2024 (top 0.1% globally).
