Special Issue Introduction

This Special Issue, Nanomaterials for Water Pollutant Remediation: Advanced Applications and Environmental Impacts, focuses on the emerging role of nanotechnology in addressing water pollution, one of the most critical environmental challenges of our time.

With increasing industrialization and urbanization, water contamination by heavy metals, organic pollutants, and other hazardous substances has become a pressing global issue, posing a severe threat to both human health and ecosystems. Conventional waste treatment methods often fail to adequately remove these pollutants from water, due to their complex structure and persistent nature. Nanomaterials, with their unique physicochemical properties, offer promising and sustainable solutions for efficient water remediation technologies. Thus, advanced nanotechnology-based approaches are being developed to tackle water treatment, contributing to water sustainability and circularity.

This Special Issue aims to cover a wide range of cutting-edge research on the design, synthesis, and application of diverse nanomaterials for the remediation of water contaminants. Additionally, it intends to cover the environmental impacts of using nanomaterials for water remediation, ensuring that advancements in technology are balanced with ecological safety. This issue seeks to foster a deeper understanding of how nanotechnology can contribute to cleaner water systems while minimizing potential environmental risks and ensuring water circularity.

Researchers are encouraged to contribute to this Special Issue with research papers, short communications, and review articles.
