Special Issue

Topic: AI-Powered Endoscopy: From Technological Advancements to Clinical Implementation
Guest Editor
Special Issue Introduction
Artificial intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing the field of endoscopy by enabling real-time lesion detection, improving diagnostic accuracy, and enhancing procedural precision. As AI technologies continue to evolve, their integration into minimally invasive endoscopic practices - particularly within gastroenterology - is proven to be increasingly transformative. This Special Issue of Mini-invasive Surgery invites high-quality submissions that explore the latest innovations and clinical applications of AI-powered endoscopy. We welcome high-quality original studies, technical reports, and comprehensive reviews that examine both the technological progress and real-world applications of AI in endoscopic procedures.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
1. AI-assisted detection and classification of gastrointestinal (GI) lesions in colonoscopy and upper GI endoscopy;
2. Deep learning applications in capsule endoscopy interpretation;
3. AI integration in therapeutic endoscopic procedures (e.g., ESD, POEM, and EMR);
4. AI-enhanced navigation and targeting in NOTES and hybrid endoscopic-laparoscopic procedures;
5. AI-based diagnostic support in endoscopic ultrasound (EUS);
6. Real-time decision support systems for intraoperative endoscopy;
7. AI-driven simulation platforms for endoscopy training;
8. Clinical validation, implementation challenges, and workflow optimization;
9. Cost-effectiveness and ethical considerations in AI-guided minimally invasive endoscopy.
