Special Topic Introduction

Extracellular vesicles (EVs) hold significant potential for functional tissue regeneration. EVs coordinate diverse cellular activities and influence key processes such as inflammation, stem cell differentiation, and vascular remodeling within regenerative microenvironments.

By delivering signaling molecules such as growth factors, regulatory RNAs, and matrix-modulating proteins, EVs facilitate precise communication between damaged tissues and distant organs, thereby contributing to systemic homeostasis and orchestrating coordinated regenerative responses.

This Special Issue aims to explore the multifaceted roles of EVs in tissue regeneration and their involvement in the complex networks underlying interorgan communication. We welcome contributions that advance the understanding of molecular mechanisms governing EV-mediated crosstalk within regenerative niches, highlight the potential of EVs as diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers for tissue repair processes, and investigate innovative therapeutic strategies that harness EVs for tissue repair and systemic homeostasis.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
● Mechanismsby which EVs promote tissue regeneration;
● Recent advances in stem cell-derived EV-based therapeutic strategies;
● EV-enabled biomaterial-based therapeutic approaches;
● EV-mediated interorgan communication and functional coordination;
● EV-driven mechanisms underlyingcomorbidities in disease;
● Emerging technologies for EV isolation, detection, and engineering;
● Application of EVs in engineered tissue regeneration.

Keywords

Extracellular vesicles, tissue regeneration, interorgan communication, EV-based biomaterials, comorbidity mechanisms, engineered tissue regeneration, EV engineering and isolation
