Special Issue Introduction

Fine chemicals are growing in significance for human health, with their production typically necessitating multi-step synergistic catalysis. A multi-functional catalyst can establish various active sites—such as acidic, alkaline, and metallic centers—within a single entity, allowing multi-step reactions to occur in a one-pot process. This approach significantly enhances the efficiency of resource and energy use. Consequently, precise regulation of the multi-structure and multi-functionality of catalysts, scaling-up of catalyst production, and cleaner manufacturing processes for fine chemicals using multi-catalytic technologies are pivotal for the future progress of chemical engineering.

This Special Issue invites original submissions on the design, synthesis, and application of heterogeneous multi-catalysts, including porous materials [such as molecular sieves, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), and covalent organic frameworks (COFs)], supported metal catalysts, composite oxides, biomimetic catalysts, films, hybrid materials, and more. We are particularly interested in articles focusing on innovative or advanced materials with innovative and valuable features.
