Special Issue Introduction

This Special Issue mainly explores the latest and emerging strategies to develop new and enhanced materials for CO2 activation and adsorption, and the catalytic reactions involving CO2 (including electrochemical, photochemical and biological conversion of CO2), together with the integrated processes for CO2 conversion and reduction. The worsening global warming over the years has driven researchers to explore methods for CO2 utilization to minimize net CO2 emissions. For years, many catalysts have been developed for CO2 utilization, accompanied by an increasing number of publications in this field. The issue covers recent advancements in catalyst synthesis for the conversion of CO2 into synthetic fuels, polymers, carboxylic acids, organic carbonates, and fine chemicals. Both experimental and theoretical analyses are welcomed. In addition to full-length articles and short communications, we encourage review papers from experts in this area. Contributions that present breakthroughs in synthesis methods, characterization techniques, and practical applications will offer insights into the future development of catalytic systems for CO2 utilization.
