Special Issue Introduction
Populations of interacting agents are ubiquitous in nature, ranging from physical particles, chemical colloids and polymers, biological macromolecules, proteins, neurons and cells, germs, animals, birds, and engineering manual devices such as robots and drones. These agents can topologically organize into large and complex networks and dynamically exhibit emerging collective spatiotemporal behaviors that are distinct from those of single agents. Such behaviors include synchronization, collective motions, swarming, and flocking. The comprehensive understanding of these macroscopic collective behaviors is a fundamental issue that has been proposed in terms of nonlinear dynamics, non-equilibrium statistical mechanics, self-organization theory, and complexity theory (e.g., complex networks).
In this Special Issue, our mission is to give systematic studies of theories and applications related to collective behaviors of complex systems. We especially welcome submissions focusing on the practical applications of collective behaviors.
Topics include but are not limited to:
● Synchronization of Networks of Oscillators;
● Sustained Collective Oscillations in Neuron and Gene-regulated Networks;
● Chimera States;
● Collective Motion and Transport;
● Swarming Dynamics;
● Swarmalators, etc.
